Do you like to read?
I've never really been too much of a book person, but I do want to start to get into them! Friends and family have referred a good number of books to me, some that I think I'd really love.
Who knows how long it'll take me to read whichever I choose, but I won't stress over it! Here is one book I read recently and would recommend for you to read. I hope you like it!

As a fan of Gabrielle Union, especially in her show Being Mary Jane, I just knew I'd love her as an author. When I heard about this book, I was really excited to purchase it. And to top it off it was on iBooks for only $6.99!! Most books nowadays are over $12. After a while, $12 a book adds up. So thank you, Gabrielle!!
She wrote her book in the style of true stories from childhood to adulthood. She spoke about the struggles of a black girl in a predominantly white town and how it affected and shaped how she felt about herself, how she talked, and how she lived in general. I felt as though it was a really good book to help illustrate struggles that many of us do not really speak of. Although in current days things are becoming more public. She also included chapters that were very relatable to all teenage girls. Reading it I kept thinking "wow I was not the only one."
This book helped me to emphasize "I'm not alone." That's exactly what She Matters wants for our self-care community. She Matters wants to be the motivation to remind women to prioritize themselves before they think of "taking care" of someone else. One step in that direction could be purchasing this book and slowly implementing it into your self-care routine. There is no time limit on how quickly to finish a book but try to aim for a minimum of 2-3 chapters a week to start. You can even choose to listen to a book if that is your preference.
