The theme for this month has been "Saying No". Last week I gave you some helpful ways to say No. But someone asked a good question, "who is it ok to say 'no' to, and who isn't it ok to say "no" to?" This might be an unpopular opinion but I don't care who they are, you can say no to ANY and EVERYBODY! Your parents, your boss at work, your best friend, your spouse, etc.
You are allowed to have boundaries. And just because someone has a particular relationship with you, doesn't make them exempt from your boundaries. Now the way you say "no" may differ from person to person based on your relationship with them, but you can still communicate your boundaries.
I wish I had someone telling me this in my younger years. I grew up being a people pleaser because I didn't want to disappoint certain people or come off as rude or mean. But I slowly learned and made sure that when I say "yes" to someone else, I'm not saying "no" to myself. Because what you allow is what will continue.
Have these tips been helpful over the few weeks? Let me know! Also, feel free to comment a topic you'd like me to talk more about...
Taking the guesswork out of self-care.
